Women in Mining UK is excited to announce six technical internship projects for summer/autumn 2022, held in partnership with Altus Strategies, Glencore, Centamin, and World Gold Council.

Altus Strategies is a project and royalty generator in the mining sector, focused on developing projects across Africa. The Company currently has a diversified and growing portfolio of twenty-four exploration projects and royalties, spanning seven countries and across six different commodities, with a focus on gold. The business is managed from the UK head office in Oxfordshire and active exploration projects are in Mali, Egypt, Ethiopia, Morocco and Cameroon.

Centamin PLC believes diversity and promoting inclusion is an ethical imperative for a sustainable business and are offering an internship under Women in Mining’s Internship Scheme, to appoint a high calibre remunerated intern to join its Mineral Resource Management Team to support the geological function of the business.

The role will be based at Centamin’s Flagship Operation – Sukari Gold Mine in Egypt but may include travel to other locations or offices in and outside the region as required by the Company.

The Mineral Resource Management team takes ownership of the orebodies and manages them to ensure maximum value is extracted. At the same time, identifies and discovers areas of mineralisation to increase the Mineral Resource base and replenish Mineral Reserves.

These internships will take place over six to eight weeks during summer/ autumn 2022 and are open to female BSc / Masters students who are in their final year of study or have graduated within the last two years and have less than three months of existing experience. All internships will be paid.

*Please note that the ability to host internships in summer 2022 will be dependent on the global Covid-19 situation and potential travel restrictions. WIM UK and its partner companies are hoping that they will be able to go ahead, and are recruiting on the assumption that they will do so. In the event of disruption due to Covid-19, it is at the partner companies’ discretion whether to delay, postpone or cancel the 2022 internship projects offered.

Applications for the internships will be open until 11:59 BST on Saturday 30 April 2022.  The short-listed applicants will be notified by 5 June 2022.
