2013.05 WIM (UK) Newsletter April – May

By 15/05/2013November 16th, 2017Newsletter

Dear Women in Mining,

As summer arrives alongside the conference season, it is with cautious optimism for the weather and the markets that we welcome you to the latest issue of our newsletter.

We have already covered a lot of ground in the past couple of months. In March, we held our clothing drive and shopping event with HOBBS in Covent Garden, to support Dress 4 Success London. This year we received a record haul of clothing donations for which we are most grateful!

In April, we held our Sense and Sustainability event, kindly hosted at Linklaters. We enjoyed rousing debate led by an engaging panel from F&C Asset Management, ENRC, Anglo American and ICMM, with The World Gold Council moderating. It was a pleasure to facilitate this thought-provoking discussion on matters of imperative, industry-wide concern.

Feedback to date suggests that our events keep on improving. With this in mind we are delighted to team up with the Association of Mining Analysts and The Applied Earth Sciences of IOMM tonight for Gold: the Bulls vs. the Bears (more on this one below).

For our more junior members, there are limited places left for the Speed Mentoring Dinner on 29 May – a chance for Junior Professionals (Mentees) to discuss professional development, goals and aspirations with some of mining’s most successful Senior Professionals (Mentors). June promises to be an equally action-packed affair, for which details will follow very shortly.

We wish you a wonderful warm summer (hot may be pushing it!) and look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.
