Women in Mining UK Announces New Board Appointment

London – 1 October 2025: Women in Mining UK (WIM UK)  is delighted to announce the appointment of Carly Leonida to its Board of Directors.

Carly Leonida is a UK-based freelance technical writer and editor with nearly 20 years’ experience covering the global mining and metals sector. Throughout her career, she has contributed to, and led some of the industry’s most respected trade publications, building a reputation for her insightful analysis and commitment to responsible mining.

Carly is passionate about sustainability and ensuring the mining industry is both innovative and inclusive, recognising that diversity is key to solving the sector’s greatest challenges. In 2019, Carly founded The Intelligent Miner, an online publication dedicated to supporting education, facilitating effective communication, and fostering constructive dialogue throughout the mining value chain. Her work has consistently championed transparency, collaboration, and the promotion of new voices within the industry.

Carly holds a first-class degree in Geography and Geology from Brighton University and was named one of the most influential women in mining by Clear Creek Media in 2016.
