CFO/COO

A Private Equity boutique based in Central London has grown rapidly by successfully investing in early stage mining projects globally. The company is now looking for a hands-on COO/CFO to take responsibility for the finance and operations functions of the business.

The role will encompass

  • Fund administration, office administration and HR responsibilities
  • Co-ordinating with all external suppliers for fund services, eg, auditors, fund administrators etc…
  • Regulatory, Compliance and risk functions
  • Due Diligence process for investors
  • Manage process of due diligence for all investments
  • Report directly to CEO

Requirements

  • At least 10 years in investment or related industry
  • Previous experience in a small hedge fund/boutique or start up fund
  • Accounting or legal qualification preferred but not essential
  • Evidence of team management

Geologist/Mining Engineer

Background: A Private Equity boutique based in Central London has grown rapidly by successfully investing in early stage mining projects globally. The company is now looking to expand its team of analysts by adding a geologist or mining engineer with significant experience in the industry. The company is looking for someone who wants to transition from mining to the finance industry.

Role: Analyst

  • Evaluate early stage mining projects (exploration assets) for possible investment opportunities
    • Detailed analysis of all aspects of the potential project: assessing technical data, development plans, infrastructure requirements etc….
    • Due diligence of potential investments will include site visits
    • Produce financial models of the investment opportunities
  • Work with team to provide investment recommendations to CIO
  • Monitor and help manage existing portfolio investments
  • Communicate to investors to explain portfolio investments
  • Report directly to Chief Investment Officer

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years experience as Geologist or mining engineer with experience of assessing exploration and early stage mining projects
  • Knowledge of a range of minerals including Coal, basic and bulk metals, precious metals, rare earths
  • Languages – Spanish, Portuguese or French preferable
  • Experience in NI 43-101 – experience as a consultant dealing with multiple projects in varied locations and mineral resources would be considered favourably
  • Personal Characteristics : Enthusiastic, flexible, self starter, team player

Mining Anlayst

Background: A Private Equity boutique based in Central London has grown rapidly by successfully investing in early stage mining projects globally. The company is now looking to expand its team by adding a mining analyst with a background in the mining industry as geologist or mining engineer.

Role: Analyst

  • Evaluate early stage mining projects (exploration assets) for possible investment opportunities
    • Detailed analysis of all aspects of the potential project: assessing technical data, development plans, infrastructure requirements etc….

Requirements

  • At least 3 years as a Mining Analyst on either sell side or buy side
  • Knowledge of a broad range of minerals including Coal, basic and bulk metals, precious metals, rare earths
  • Languages – Spanish, Portuguese or French preferable
  • Personal Characteristics : Enthusiastic, flexible, self starter, team player

 Rio Tinto is a leading international mining group headquartered in the UK, in the business of finding, mining and processing the world’s best mineral deposits.

 Rio Tinto Exploration (RTX) is mandated to further grow the value of Rio Tinto by discovering or acquiring Tier 1 deposits with the objective of making one such discovery each year. We have an exciting opportunity to join this dynamic and highly successful exploration team as a Senior Project Geologist in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Central Africa is the new Iron Ore frontier with the some of the largest emergent Iron Ore deposits in the world and this role will be responsible for leading the technical component of our iron ore exploration programme in this area.

 The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong technical iron ore background and leadership skills as well as a passion for exploration and discovery.

 The role is based at Rio Tinto’s global headquarters in London, UK and will operate on a fly in-fly out basis to the project area with four week rotations in the field. The role reports to the Project Manager of the iron ore Programme. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows

  • Developing and executing the technical strategy for the programme including;
    • Target generation to develop a pipeline of targets
    • Drill testing and further follow up towards discovery
    • Establishing and monitoring progress against project milestones
    • Leading, coaching and developing the project technical team
    • Providing leadership in HSEC and business integrity
    • Management of project budgets to ensure effective prioritisation and allocation of funds 

To be considered, you must have a tertiary qualification in geology and demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety. You will have substantial experience within exploration for iron ore. You will also have significant experience as a senior geologist and in supervision of fieldwork, in particular drilling programs. Your collaborative approach, strong integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity and cultural sensitivity will further ensure your fit for this role.

 This role will enable you to participate in a high performing, global exploration team with a proven track record in making Tier 1 discoveries.
