London – 24 March 2020: Women in Mining UK (WIM) is delighted to announce IBM, the multinational technology company, as a co-sponsor of the 2020 Edition of “100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining” (WIM100) publication.
Melinda Moore, WIM Head of Global Outreach and Finance Director, commented, “We are extremely excited IBM is joining as a WIM100 partner. Diversity and inclusion are values that have defined IBM’s workplace culture since the early 20th century – well ahead of being appreciated or even required by the business community. This trailblazing spirit is continuing, with IBM driving the future direction of mining sector intelligence and other STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) industries through thought leadership, AI/IOT innovations, and continued determination to foster an environment of inclusion.”
Manish Chawla, Global Managing Director, Chemicals, Petroleum & Industrial Products Industries at IBM, confirmed, “Supporting Women in Mining UK’s WIM100 publication is a natural extension of what IBM stands for. As a company and as an industry team we are very aligned with the goal of creating a diverse and inclusive workforce that is able to tackle the dual challenges of digitising the mining industry and meeting the ever more important sustainability goals. IBM focuses on addressing these with its clients and we know that solving these essential challenges takes creative and resilient teams with empowered female talent and a growth culture.”
Nominations for the 2020 edition of WIM100 are now open until 12:00 am GMT on Tuesday 30 June 2020. The successful nominees will be announced on Thursday 19 November 2020, with a celebratory event and symposium in London.
