On 22 October, the BRASS Centre (Cardiff University) and the Commonwealth Policy Studies Unit (Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London) convened academics, representatives of NGOs and mining organisations for a conference titled “Corporate Social Responsibility and Stakeholder Engagement in the Extractive Sector”.   The aim of the event was to engage the delegates in debate and discussion on the global practices of mining corporations and the extent of their social engagement with local communities where they performed their operations, to chart out a multi-faceted agenda for future research into the extractive sector.  To read the conference report and access slides and photos, please click here.
