WIM (UK) Ran the British 10k on the 8th July 2012

Women in Mining (UK) took part in the British 10k run on Sunday 8 July and have to date rasied over £3500 for the Julian Baring Scholarship Fund.

All funds raised will help a financially disadvantaged African student, selected through the Fund to continue their studies at a leading University and pursue a career in the mining industry. The Fund set up in 2000 by Justin Baring in memory of his father, Julian, a well known and successful fund manager concentrating on the mining and gold sectors selects and sponsors African students who are financially disadvantaged and would not otherwise get access to such funding. WIM (UK) still aims to raise sufficient funds to sponsor a female student through their studies. For more information and case studies of students who have been sponsored click here.

The British 10K, the UK’s leading 10K road race took our runners past some of the country’s greatest landmarks including Big Ben, The London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and Westminster Abbey. They all dug deep into their reserves and completed the run despite the downpour to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.
