Applications Open for the Women in Mining UK Scholarship at the Camborne School of Mines

London – 31 March 2021: Women in Mining UK (WIM UK) is pleased to announce applications are now open for the WIM UK scholarship to study a mining-related Master’s course at the world-renowned Camborne School of Mines (CSM) at Exeter University. This scholarship, valued at £6,000, is open to UK-based female students.

This is the sixth year that WIM UK has partnered with the Camborne School of Mines Trust to offer scholarships to CSM as part of its initiative to support and encourage women to seek a career in mining. Eligible courses include Master’s of Science in Mining Engineering, Mining Environmental Management, Applied Geotechnics, Minerals Processing, Mining Geology, Exploration Geology and Geotechnical Engineering.

Alex Buck, Managing Director at WIM UK, says, “As part of WIM UK’s mandate to promote the mining sector as a career choice for women, the first vital step in developing the talent pipeline is education. We consider our scholarship programme to be one of the most important initiatives we offer, which is possible thanks to the generous support of our partners. This scholarship won’t just change the life of a young woman but will make an important contribution towards creating a more diverse and robust mining sector.”

Earlier this year, WIM UK’s commitment to education was expanded to include a scholarship to the world-renowned Metals and Energy Finance MSc Programme at Imperial College London, which in 2021 will be sponsored by the World Gold Council, the market development organisation for the gold industry.
