Women in Mining UK is excited to announce seven technical internship projects for summer/autumn 2023, held in partnership with The Copper Mark, Cornish Lithium, Green Lithium, and Centamin.

The Copper Mark is an assurance framework to promote responsible practices and demonstrate the transition minerals industry’s contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The Copper Mark uses a rigorous site-level assessment process to independently verify whether individual copper, nickel, zinc and/or molybdenum producing sites have responsible production practices. Over 20% of globally mined copper is currently produced by Copper Mark-assured sites.

Cornish Lithium is a highly innovative private British mineral exploration company focussed on the sustainable extraction of lithium and other battery metals in the historically significant mining district of Cornwall, UK. Metals such as lithium are the key enablers of the transition to clean energy given their role in power storage batteries making such metals vital components of the future UK economy. The Company has secured extensive mineral rights agreements across more than 500km2 of Cornwall, enabling us to use modern exploration techniques on a regional basis.

Green Lithium is a small, closely knit team and as a result of this, the interns will have a unique opportunity to focus on their role whilst also being exposed to wider business issues.

Centamin is an established gold producer, with premium listings on both the London Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange.
Their business is multijurisdictional, headquartered in Jersey and structured with regional operating and exploration hubs in Egypt and Côte d’Ivoire, creating an exciting, dynamic, entrepreneurial workplace, made up of a talented and ambitious workforce. Their flagship asset is the Sukari Gold Mine (“Sukari”), located in the Eastern Desert of Egypt, and Egypt’s largest and first modern gold mine.
These internships will take place over six to eight weeks during summer/ autumn 2023 and are open to female BSc / Masters students who are in their second and final year of study or have graduated within the last two years and have less than three months of existing experience. All internships will be paid at least the U.K. national living wage. Pay is at the discretion of the employer. Please note you do not need to satisfy all criteria to apply.
