Metals Beneficiation: Unlocking the Midstream Market

May 13 at 18:00 - 20:00

Please join WIM UK and Society Generale for a panel discussion on the midstream market followed by a networking reception kindly hosted and sponsored by Society Generale.

As global demand for critical and industrial metals accelerates, the spotlight is moving beyond extraction toward the midstream—the processing, refining and transformation steps that ultimately determine security of supply, value accretion, and industrial sovereignty. Historically capital‑intensive, technologically complex, and geopolitically sensitive, the midstream has become one of the most strategically important and constrained segments of the mining and metals value chain.

This panel will explore how metals processing is being reshaped by energy transition demand, shifting geopolitics, evolving regulation, and availability of financing solutions. Drawing on expert perspectives from the WIM network, the discussion will examine what it takes to unlock new midstream capacity, align upstream and downstream incentives, and mobilise capital in a market where strategic considerations increasingly rival pure economics.

Moderator:
Marie Gerbier (Director, Energy, Mining & Industries, Societe Generale)

Speakers:
Anna Westwell (Managing Consultant – Strategy & Risk Advisory, Africa, J.S. Held LLC)
