Lucy Roberts – Senior Resource Geologist with SRK Consulting (UK) Ltd

Lucy joined SRK Consulting (UK) Ltd in April 2006 as a Resource Geologist, gaining promotion to Senior Resource Geologist in April 2009.  SRK Consulting (UK) Ltd are part of the international SRK Group which offers consulting services to the Mining and Metals sector from 42 offices on 6 continents.  Lucy specialises in all aspects of mineral resource estimation, classification and reporting.  Since completing a PhD in Applied Geostatistics and joining SRK in 2006, she has undertaken resource estimates for various precious metals, gemstone and bulk commodity projects and now spends the majority of her time working in the due diligence aspect of Mineral Resource reporting.

Her involvement with the due diligence group of SRK covers all aspects, especially reviewing Mineral Resource estimates for both debt and equity funding and she has worked on projects listed on the Hong Kong, London, Johannesburg and Toronto stock exchanges.  Historically, her work includes listing projects for Russian bauxite operations, annual reviews of iron-ore and chromite projects in Kazakhstan and a review of Estonian oil shale deposits for a potential listing.  Current projects include Independent Engineer Reports for multiple operating coal mines in Russia and for advanced exploration projects in Brazil and Uruguay.

Lucy’s academic background is in the application of geostatistical theory to structurally controlled gold deposits in Western Australia.  Since joining SRK, she has also contributed to the training and mentoring of the less experienced staff, and to the generation of external training courses for Clients.  Lucy graduated from Cardiff University in 2002 with a BSc in Exploration Geology, and an MSc with Distinction in Mineral Resources.  Her PhD was undertaken at James Cook University in Queensland, Australia.  Through her academic and consultancy experience, Lucy has developed extensive software skills, including Gemcom, Datamine, Vulcan, Isatis and Whittle pit optimisation software.
