London – 14 June 2021: Women in Mining UK (WIM UK) is delighted to partner with Polymetal International plc (Polymetal), a leading precious metals mining group and FTSE100 constituent, to support Polymetal’s inaugural mining scholarship at the Camborne School of Mines (CSM) of University of Exeter.

This package includes a scholarship valued at £6,000 to support the recipient’s studies as well as the opportunity to work with Polymetal for her dissertation project and, upon graduation, an internship at Polymetal to gain vital experience in the field and insight into one of the world’s leading mining companies.

Alex Buck, Managing Director at WIM UK, commented, “We are thrilled to partner with Polymetal and support this scholarship programme with our friends at CSM. Polymetal’s scholarship and internship package demonstrates its commitment to encouraging more women into the industry as well as reinforcing CSM’s position as one of the leading mining schools in the world. Polymetal is a great ally of women and we hope more companies in the sector will see the value of encouraging women to study mining-related courses and will follow in Polymetal’s footsteps.”

Tania Tchedaeva, Director, Corporate Governance of Polymetal and a 2020 WIM100 alumna, added, “As a founding member of Women in Mining Russia, Polymetal has always considered itself a supporter of women. The launch of our scholarship programme is another milestone in Polymetal’s women empowerment journey. With the technological improvements that are taking place, the mining industry is opening up for women and we strive to attract and retain more female talent in the mining industry.

Our collaboration with WIM UK and the Camborne School of Mines scholarship is an extension of our original commitment to ensure more women around the world join the industry.”
