Women in Mining UK is excited to announce four technical internship projects for summer 2021, held in partnership with Altus Strategies and Golden Star Resources.

Altus Strategies is a project and royalty generator in the mining sector, focused on Africa. The company has a diversified and growing portfolio of eighteen projects, spanning six countries and across six different commodities. Its business is managed from the UK head office in Oxfordshire and projects are active in Mali, Ethiopia, Morocco, Liberia, Ivory Coast and Cameroon.

Golden Star Resources is an established West African gold mining company that owns and operates the Wassa mine situated on the prolific Ashanti Gold Belt in Ghana, West Africa. The Company has two producing mines in Ghana and is a high-grade, low-cost, non-refractory gold producer.

These internships will take place over six to eight weeks during summer 2021* and are open to female BSc / Masters students who are in their final year of study or have graduated within the last two years and have less than three months of existing experience. All internships will be paid.

One of the internships will be based in the UK and may include international travel to operation sites. The remaining three internships will be based in Ghana.

*Please note that the ability to host internships in summer 2021 will be dependent on the global Covid-19 situation and potential travel restrictions. WIM UK and its partner companies are hoping that they will be able to go ahead, and are recruiting on the assumption that they will do so. In the event of disruption due to Covid-19, it is at the partner companies’ discretion whether to delay, postpone or cancel the 2021 internship projects offered.
