Careers are less predictable. New knowledge and skills are continually required as jobs change and as people transition to new companies and industries. Traditional university based training is not able to meet the education and training needs of companies and individuals\, which require greater relevance\, more flexibility more choice over subjects. Bob will describe new approaches to education and training in which courses are job focused\, contemporary and relevant and sourced from world’s best practice and combined instackable degrees where students selected short courses that are immediately relevant for emerging jobs or their personal development. Learners will have choice and flexibility in combinations of subjects from across all disciplines\, options around delivery modes\, and whether subjects are taken for credit or not. For example\, if you (or your staff) wanted to learn about mining related AI\, you could do on-line short courses in AI and AI applications from the School of Engineering\, Ethics of AI from Philosophy or Management and AI related law from the Law School. If you then want to take these for credit and bundle them into a diploma or masters\, you could add some self-development courses on team leadership\, history or self-management from the relevant schools.\nBob will outline how the new forms of education can be used in lifelong learning and coping with disruptions to your career. \nProfessor Robert (Bob) Wood\,\nDistinguished Professor\nDirector\, Futures Academy\nUniversity of Technology Sydney \nSponsored by Fortescue Metals Group and University of Technology Sydney \nFri.\, 12 April 2019\n5:00 pm – 7:00 pm AWST\nSwan\, Room – Parmelia Hilton Perth\n14 Mill Street\nPerth\, WA 6000\nAustralia\nView Map \nREGISTER HERE URL:https://www.womeninmining.org.uk/event/wimwa-event-preparing-for-the-future-of-work/ END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
