Applications Open for the Women in Mining UK 2021 Paid Internship Programme

London – 28 April 2021:  Women in Mining UK (WIM UK) is pleased to announce applications are now open for its 2021 paid internship programme, one of WIM UK’s signature initiatives to promote mining as a career for women. This year Altus Strategies and Golden Star Resources are seeking to place a total of four interns. Applications will be open until 16th May and the internships are set to commence in July for a period of 6-8 weeks. To apply, please go here.

This year, Altus Strategies, a project and royalty generator focused on developing projects across Africa, is looking for an Exploration Geologist at its offices in Didcot, Oxfordshire, UK. Golden Star Resources, a gold mining company with a producing underground mine on the prolific Ashanti Gold Belt in Ghana, is looking for three interns. The available internships at Golden Star are for an Exploration Geologist, a Plant Metallurgist, and a Mining Engineer who will all be based at the company’s mine in Wassa, Ghana. The Golden Star internships are open to both women based out of the UK as well as Ghana.

Alex Buck, Managing Director at WIM UK, says, “We are delighted to be offering four paid internships this year with our partners Golden Star and Altus Strategies. This is the third year we’ve been running our internship scheme which offers young women the opportunity to explore this sector and help them gain valuable work experience, with the ultimate aim of encouraging them to join the industry and help to diversify it further.”
