London, 21 September 2017 – Women in Mining UK (“WIM UK”) is pleased to announce that it has appointed long standing WIM UK member Louise Mason-Rutherford as its Head of Events. Louise is replacing Gemma O’Loghlen and started on 20 September.
In her new role, Louise will lead the team that organizes WIM UK’s calendar of events and seminars.
Nichole McCulloch, Managing Director WIM UK, said: “WIM UK’s events are widely respected among the mining community and are a cornerstone of WIM’s strategy to promote and progress the development of women in the mining industries. I am very pleased that Louise has accepted to take on this exciting role and look forward to working with her closely as we continue to advance the interests of women in our sector.
I would also like to thank Gemma for all her great work with us over the last 5 years, in particular the last year as Head of Events. She will continue to stay close to WIM UK and will work with Louise to ensure a smooth transition for the benefit of all our members.”
Each year, WIM (UK) hosts a series of events in the form of talks and panel sessions on technical and non-technical issues facing the mining industry so members can share and expand their knowledge base. We hold two key networking events each year, the Mines & Money Drinks Reception in December and our Summer Drinks Reception in July. Throughout the rest of the year we arrange a variety of panel discussions, debates and presentations covering a wide range of topics. The majority of our events are free to attend, thanks to the generosity of our many sponsors who kindly provide us with venues we can use free of charge.
WIM UK is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting and progressing the development of women in the mining and minerals sector.
